  • Soil Testing and Soil Mapping must be accompanied by another PWCP-funded practice (previous PWCP-funded projects count as accompanying)

  • OR the applicant must report on the change in nitrogen fertilizer use (fertilizer rates before and after the soil testing/mapping).

BMP: Cover Cropping

Cover Cropping

  • Fall and spring cover crops 

  • Full-season annual and/or perennial cover crops, 6" of stubble over winter, cannot sell the crop, may feed own livestock with the cover crop.

  • Planning and technical assessments

  • Up to $50/acre

Cover Crop Equipment

  • Only sod seeders with a disc opener eligible within WIWD boundaries.

  • Must show via P.Ag that it is required for cover crop planting in the area and their are no other suitable options.

  • 50:50 cost-share up to $30,000

  • Must be accompanied by a cover crop BMP under the PWCP program.

  • Cross-fencing (Permanent & Temp), within an already existing perimeter fenceline to support the rotational grazing plan.
