Project Details
Through 2023 to 2025, the West Interlake Watershed District has worked closely with our partnering RM's to construct pollinator gardens across our communities to provide much-needed food and shelter for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Gardens are already blooming in Oak Point, Lundar, Eriksdale, Ashern, Moosehorn, and The Narrows, with more planned for our Lundar office in the near future.
By planting native species such as purple coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia), we’re not only supporting pollinators but also improving water quality, soil health, carbon storage, and biodiversity. Some benefits can be seen right away, while others will grow stronger over time.
A special thank-you to Manitoba Habitat Conservancy (MHC) for their generous support and partnership in making these projects possible.
Our vision is to inspire community members to bring pollinator-friendly practices into their own backyards. Together, we’re building healthier, more connected ecosystems across the watershed.
