Public Education

The WIWD strives to provide our watershed residents and the public with quality education pieces regarding conservation and the programs the WIWD provides. We are committed to educational awareness for school age youth through various education components.

The WIWD believes in the importance of educating the next generation of residents and landowners and will work with cooperating organizations and district schools to assist in implementing environmental education into the curriculum.

Contact the WIWD office with your environmental education ideas (i.e. in-class presentations, sponsorships, field trips, etc.) early in the year in order to ensure that plans are made for your school to be involved.

Our Goal

Our Scholarship

Based on budget, the WIWD will offer scholarships each year, available to graduating students of schools within our watershed district.

Learn more about previous scholarship recipients and essay topics by clicking the button below.

Student tuition and life after high school can be costly for new adults. In previous years, the West Interlake Watershed District has offered scholarships to high school graduates to provide them with the opportunity of making these high costs more affordable. To participate in the scholarship, students are asked to write an essay on a specific topic that generaly reflects the benefits of the watershed. Together, the Executive Board decides which essays answer the question most precisely. To qualify, students must be in their gradutating year of high school and attend a school located within the districts boundaries.

If you or someone you know is expecting to graduate high school during the upcoming school year, we encourage them to apply for our scholarship. Click the button below to access the scholarship application.
